PHIL 365A ST Bioethcs: Gndr, Rlg, Ethics

This Special Topics in Bioethics course will investigate the intersection of gender, religion, and health care, in themselves and as applies to global health delivery. Students will investigate how religious doctrines and ethics, particularly those of Roman Catholicism, intersect with the lived experiences of persons around the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of health conditions. Primary attention given to vulnerable communities in the U.S. and around the globe including: women and girls, pregnant women, and the LGBTQ community. The course will analyze classical methods of bioethics alongside feminist and intersectional approaches, and compare health care approaches across international communities and in the work of global health delivery.
