English: 4+1 Writing Bachelor of Arts and Professional Writing Master of Arts Program

English and Multimedia Communications majors and minors interested in completing the Professional Writing Master of Arts in a 4+1 program may apply to the program in the junior year. Students accepted into the program are allowed to take 12 credits of 500-level work towards the Masters degree in their senior year. Ideally, they should take ENGL 520, 525, 540, and a 500-level elective. To that end, if students think they may be interested in doing the graduate program, they should avoid taking 420, 425, or 440 at an earlier date. If they do take those courses at the undergraduate level, however, it will not be a barrier to the Masters program. Instead we will substitute additional 500-level electives in their place.

Interested students should see Dr. Lauren Esposito, the Director of the Graduate Program, for more information.
