HIST H450 The Global History of Popular Culture?History
This course covers the history of global popular culture from around 1850 to the present. It focuses on music hall, cabaret, the detective novel, theme parks, comics, and pop music, and their development and reception on five continents. Throughout the class we will explore how these different forms of popular culture circulated from one place to another, focusing on their interaction, in-mixing, and the transnational and hybrid genres that they gave birth to globally.
