HIST 370 Narcotics in Modern World History

This course examines the rise of narcotics consumption and commerce from the 19th century until the presence. Topics discussed will include the role of opium in colonial expansion in Asia, changing regulation and cross-cultural understandings of narcotics such as marijuana and heroin, the growth and evolution of international criminal narcotics groups, and changing government efforts to regulate narcotics.
