ART 491 History of Visual Communications

An art history course tracing the historical evolution of the disciplines for which professional training is provided in the B.F.A. Graphic Design and Illustration degrees. This historical content is the foundation for creative work produced in the studio component of these programs. In a broader context, the content provides an awareness of the historical antecedents of several fields which are a vital component of advertising, graphic design, illustration, and photography.
