ART 601T ST: Northern Renaissance Art
This course will survey art made in Europe, north of the Alps, from the end of the fourteenth century, through the sixteenth century, with particular focus on Germany and the Netherlands and artists such as Jan van Eyck, Rogier van der Weyden, Albrecht D?rer, Hieronymus Bosch, and Pieter Bruegel. This period experienced great religious and social turmoil, but also significant artistic and cultural change. Much of our focus will be on developments of technology in art, as well as the connections between art and religious life.
