PSYC 660P ST: Interpersonal Therapy
This course provides an overview of the theory and techniques associated with Interpersonal Psychotherapy, spanning from a brief historical overview of theoretical contributions to recent research on the therapeutic relationship and evidence-based psychotherapies. Additionally, this course presents an overview of Object Relations and Attachment theories. Combined with an exploration of Interpersonal theory, the course will present an in-depth exploration of the various stages of therapy and the techniques used to assist clients in their growth. Special emphasis is placed on mastering techniques that directly address the development of a therapeutic alliance, transference, countertransference, termination, and specific client issues such as depression and grief.
