FREN 150 Elementary French

Designed for students who have studied 0-2 years of French previously. The basic skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) are presented, reviewed, and practiced as building blocks toward proficiency in communication. Communicative activities, based on cultural information and authentic materials are supported by related vocabulary sets and grammatical explanations to facilitate the learning process. All activities increase cultural awareness and help students personalize and relate the material to their experiences and professional goals. Through interactive, authentic language assignments, student collaborate in pair and group activities while improving their interpersonal communication skills. Reading and writing practices allow students to understand and compose original sentences, paragraphs, and compositions. Cultural readings and discussions lead to a greater understanding of and respect for the people throughout the francophone world.
