EDUC 1090 Qualifying Experience in Education
The Qualifying Seminar in Education requires the student to write a quality research paper equivalent to manuscripts submitted to reputable peer-review journals and prepare a professional presentation on the topic suitable for an approved state, national, or international conference in education. A student will choose the topic of the qualifying paper autonomously and write the entire paper as an independent study. The qualifying paper must have a clearly stated thesis statement and conduct a thorough literature review by presenting a detailed background of the issue or problem in practice, and explaining its scope and dimension from three distinct perspectives as well as any ethical implications. A final set of policy or procedural recommendations, as well as suggestions for further research, is required as a conclusion of the paper. Upon receiving notification that the paper has been approved, students may submit their paper or presentation materials to a peer-reviewed journal or approved state, national, or international conference on education.
