AT 529 Ethical Considerations in Art Therapy

This course explores ethical issues and responsibilities associated with the profession and practice of art therapy. Students will become knowledgeable about ethical and legal issues related to the practice of art therapy via lecture, discussion, presentations, and review of the Art Therapy Credential Board's Code of Ethics and the American Art Therapy Association's Ethical Principles for Art Therapists. Emphasis will be placed on confidentiality, ethical dilemmas associated with dual-role relationships, and the cohesive development of students' identities as professional art therapists, artists, and human beings within the context of art therapy. Students will explore issues related to scope of practice and advocacy for clients and the profession of art therapy.
