PA 349 Introduction to Pharmacology

Introduction to Pharmacology is the first of a three-course series. It provides the student an opportunity to examine foundation of pharmacotherapeutics. The relationship between action of drug and its effect on the body is emphasized. Topics covered during this course include pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, pharmacogenomics, drug legislation, evidence-based-medicine, age-related dosing, geriatric pharmacology, pharmaceutical calculations, laboratory finding related to pharmacology, topical products, drug therapy of the autonomic nervous system. Lecture, discussion, review activities, journal reviews and case studies are utilized to present the material.
