Digital Media and Broadcast Production, Bachelor of Arts
Program Aims
Students are prepared for careers in the rapidly expanding media production field, which includes radio and television broadcast stations, web-based media outlets, film company’s and production houses. They explore digital audio and video editing and learn how to tell a story from scriptwriting through production. They also learn audio/music production skills. They learn about emerging digital tools and how to produce, direct, and shoot in the field and in a studio. Students also are equipped to produce and direct independent productions (e.g. documentaries and podcasts). Students practice leadership skills, media performance and newswriting at student-managed radio and television stations.
Program Requirements for Broadcast Communication Majors (50 credits)
Major specialization in Broadcast Communication requires 50 total credits:
COMM elective: Filmmaking, Internship or any other Communication Arts course; i.e., COMM 431 or 448.
